OTRU and the University of Waterloo conducted a pooled analysis of their cohort examining the impact of the menthol ban in Canada. This paper was published on the day that the FDA announced regulations for regulating menthol in tobacco in the US and provided estimates on the potential impact of the ban projecting that the number of smokers who would quit after a US menthol ban would be 789,724 daily smokers (including 199 732 African Americans) and 1,337,988 daily and non-daily smokers (including 381,272 African Americans).
