OTRU’s resources include a variety of materials to help serve the needs of the tobacco control research community and our partners in the Smoke-Free Ontario Strategy.
OTRU staff members scan the scientific literature for recent publications of interest to the tobacco control community to produce our monthly Current Abstracts on Tobacco.
OTRU Updates provide a brief synopsis of recent research, monitoring and evaluation findings, and OTRU related information.
OTRU Reading Lists provide a brief selection of journal articles, online reports and other web-based material on hot topics in tobacco control. While our lists are not intended to be comprehensive, they offer an introduction to work in specific tobacco control topics and they will be updated periodically as new literature becomes available.
Each year, OTRU produces a series of Monitoring Reports to examine the progress of the Smoke-Free Ontario Strategy. On the basis of qualitative and quantitative evidence, these reports document changes in the province's tobacco control climate, including policy and program initiatives, and tobacco-related knowledge, attitudes, and behaviours.
Special Reports provide overviews and syntheses of research or other material in special topic areas of particular relevance to the tobacco control community.
The Directory of Public Use Data on Tobacco Use in Canada has been prepared to help researchers and students locate high quality Canadian data on smoking and tobacco. The Searchable Database of Questionnaire Items from Population Surveys of Tobacco Use in Canada is a source of reliable and valid survey questions related to tobacco.
Links to a list of peer-reviewed journals which publish tobacco related material and to other organizations in tobacco control are also provided.
