OTRU’s
innovative research tackles complex problems, with a commitment to applied
research questions.
OTRU has been recognized for its scientific contributions
provincially, nationally and internationally. We have been involved in
several major projects, including
- a national survey of legislators
- a
national study of environmental tobacco smoke in the home
- a study of
tobacco industry relations with Canadian universities
- a Royal Society
report on nicotine addiction and
- a variety of other surveys and studies
evaluating various tobacco control measures
Our staff have been members
of provincial and national expert panels, authored numerous scientific
papers and special reports, hosted invitational workshops, and edited
the book Nicotine and Public Health, published by the American
Public Health Association in 2000.
We also support the development of research capacity among our research network of over 100 investigators and affiliates through our OTRU Small Project Grants for Canadian Researchers and Ashley Studentships.
