OTRU’s intramural research program includes projects on

• second-hand smoke
• cessation and treatment
• health professional roles
• the impacts of workplace smoking restrictions
• tobacco marketing

In many cases, OTRU obtains additional funding from external granting agencies by adding components to already-funded projects. OTRU supports proposal development, including pilot work. We also fund projects in high-priority areas that are particularly time-sensitive. In addition, OTRU serves in a rapid response capacity for the Ontario Ministry of Health Promotion, providing data analysis, literature syntheses and fact checking.
