Since its inception in 1993, OTRU has been responsible for monitoring Ontario’s provincial tobacco control strategy. Our monitoring and evaluation activities include:

• Monitoring & assessment of the Smoke-Free Ontario Strategy
• Formative and outcome evaluation of programs and activities conducted under the auspices of the Smoke-Free Ontario Strategy
• Quality assurance assistance with self-evaluation of these programs
• Development of the Performance Indicators Monitoring System (PIMS)
• Documentation of Smoke-Free Ontario programs
• Assessment of use of evidence
• Enhancement of Ontario's capacity to conduct research, monitoring, and evaluation
• Planning and program development based on scientific evidence
